The softer side of the band that first showed up on Significant Other is significantly improved with songs like Hold On, It'll Be Ok, and The One. The post-metal is taken to a new height with a song like Boiler, with massive riffs creating an earth-shattering wall of sound.
It's only now that people are finally starting to realize Limp Bizkit is on a similar wavelength to Primus of making fun of themselves all the while creating fantastic unique music that really can't be copied.Ĭhocolate Starfish combines all that made Three Dollar Bill and Significant Other such amazing albums, and goes further. That line is one of the greatest lyrics in all of metal, and if the album title of Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water wasn't enough of a giveaway, this isn't a band or album that takes itself seriously outside of musically. "If I say fuck two more times, that's forty-six fucks in this fucked up rhyme" Surprisingly, the best thing their ever made, the track Endless Slaughter, isn’t here.Īnyways, I can revisit this album in the future, but it’s not an essential release. Unfortunatelly, there’s not a great track here. I must praise the work of Wes Borland, he creates some good riffs and nice acoustic passages, I would even like to hear some solos… The electronics are well used, the rapping doesn’t annoys me that much. In fact, this is probably their shortest release ever, barely passing the half hour mark. It’s varied – there’s even a good ballad, Don’t Change, and a pleasant poppy tune, Goodbye – and don’t overstay its welcome.
But I do changed my mind a bit about this band. There were never a band from this genre I can say “Wow, they make amazing music!”.Īnd after listening to Still Sucks, the most recent release of LB… Well, I don’t changed my mind about the genre, haha! I haven’t found that GREAT nu metal album yet. Although I am convinced that the “nu metallers” never fullfiled their potential. I don’t hate the genre anymore, there are some good things there. Always thought about them as the worst that nu metal can offer – and I simply plain hated nu metal for a long time, haha.
